Ladakh is a region administered by India as a union territory. The largest town in Ladakh is Leh. Leh consists of The Indu...s, Shyok, and Nubra river valleys. Kargil consists of The Suru, Dras, and Zanskar river valleys.

Due to its strategic location, the Indian Military maintains a strong presence in the region. Ladakh is the highest plateau in India with much of it being over 9800 ft.

Vegetation is extremely sparse in Ladakh. The land here is irrigated by a system of channels that funnel water from the ice and snow of the mountains.

By air:

Daily flights to and from Delhi reach Leh airport (KUSHOK BAKULA RIMPOCHEE AIRPORT).

By bus:

There are government and private buses from Srinagar and Manali.

From Srinagar, you will pass through Zoji La pass to reach Ladakh and from Manali, you reach Ladakh through Rohtang pass.

By bike:

Most of the tourists visit Ladakh on the bike.

  1. Leh-Srinagar Highway.

Season- May to October

This is the most scenic route with many attractions in its path. This 434 km route covers Sonmarg, Zoji La, Dras, Kargil, Mulbek, Lamayaru and Saspol.

  1. Leh-Manali highway.

Season- May to September

It’s a 490 km stretch covering Rohtang pass, Gramphu, Kokshar, Darcha, Baralacha la, Gata loops, Lachulung la, and Tanglang la on its way.

            By taxi or shared taxi:

                        Take a taxi from Manali to Leh. Rented cars with other city registrations are not allowed for sightseeing in Ladakh. Either personal car or Leh registered car is allowed.
